Sehnzucht (2015-2016)

The fictional representations of maternal photographers show that her absorption in her work, combined with such a refusal to be seen, makes the mother/photographer appear uncaring, uninvolved, monstruous. But how could she appear in a different light, in view of the social and psychological gazes fixed on her, in view of the screens of familiality that systematically work against her- the pressures she faces as she balances the competing claims of her children and her own creative work?

Marianne Hirsch- 'Family Frames'

The series 'Sehnzucht' is based on the artist’s personal experience of becoming a mother. After moving to a different country, being without her family and friends and her partner working abroad, she experienced a great deal of stress and tried to cope with it through photographing her new surroundings.

Sehnzucht' was nominated in 2016 for the Fine Art Photography Award, Fine Art Category and published in Float Photo Magazine
